It is hard for descendants of immigrants to find their ancestors in Japan.

It’s because lack of language and knowledge about Japan. It needs lots of geographic knowledge, historical books of localities, documents and records written in old  Japanese, interview or speak to many persons in Japanese.

Sometimes, it’s difficult for no-trained Japanese to read handwritten letters of ancient documents.

In addition, it costs a lot of expenses coming to Japan and staying to investigate from place to place.
